Rugby Football Club Los Angeles is hiring two part-time Community Development Managers. One Manager will focus on Los Angeles Metro and surrounding communities and the second will be based and focus on Orange County and surrounding communities. These positions will be annual contract roles.

PURPOSE

Reporting to the Academy Director, this role assists in the delivery of the infrastructure and services to ensure the rugby environment is safe and promotes enjoyment and skill development for new and existing participants specifically in Community Rugby Clubs and Schools.

The role promotes, develops and grows the game of Rugby at the grass roots level, through customer focussed and quality initiatives such as the Imagine Rugby program. The CDM also assists in the implementation of activities and programs which support the strategic direction for Community Rugby and focus on retaining and increasing the growth of players actively playing the game.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Strategy

  • Assist the Academy Director in the implementation of nationally aligned community rugby programs to facilitate the delivery of key strategic business objectives in relation to retention, recruitment and education
  • Work with the Academy Director to achieve and maintain productive, progressive and harmonious relationships with key stakeholders, to help facilitate the delivery of the strategic planning outcomes
  • Assist the Academy Director in working with key stakeholders such as Communities, Schools, Senior and Junior Clubs to help facilitate delivery of camps, clinics and educational seminars in the community

Operational

  • Contribute to the overall success of the team
  • Assist with the maintenance of relationships with key stakeholders, i.e. Rugby Clubs, Communities and Schools to facilitate the growth of rugby at grass roots level
  • Utilize tools and systems to assist in the creation and maintenance of a network of contacts with local schools and clubs and assist with their Rugby needs
  • Oversee a dedicated team of casual staff and volunteers in the completion of assigned tasks and responsibilities
  • Work with stakeholders to coordinate and facilitate opportunities for increased retention and recruitment – develop rapport with Rugby Coaches, Club and rugby organization representatives and Physical Education teachers, Athletic Directors and community partner organizations
  • Identify priority schools, strategically targeting programs and schools with ties to club rugby and delivering imagine rugby curriculum
  • Attend junior pathways programs and fixtures as a club/brand representative
  • Prepare individual work plan and share with Director and GM, informing them of progress towards team and individual goals
  • Assist in the delivery of education programs using the latest techniques and resources.
  • Encourage coaching staff from schools, junior and senior clubs to improve their skills through the resources and education available
  • Assist in the penetration of elementary and high schools with the focus of increasing numbers playing regular and irregular rugby through the promotion of RFCLA.
  • Assist in the increase of the growth of schools and clubs participating in programs
  • Assist in the educate communities, the schools and junior and senior clubs on the resources available to them
  • Use Google calendar to document activities and make these available to the Academy Director
  • Build databases of volunteers available to assist in promotional activities and educate them with the latest resources
  • Maintain database of interested participants and rugby support staff, coaches and administrators· Upskill teachers and coaches
  • Disseminate material promoting Club programs and local team and academy events
  • Represent the views of RFCLA at stakeholder forums, influencing positively, gaining ‘buy-in’ for the various programs.
  • Maintain and improve existing Rugby programs in region · Assist in the development and maintenance of accurate data bases of coaches, referees and administrators in your region
  • Establish a relationship with the referees association and assist in recruitment and retention
  • Provide support and participate in other Community Rugby initiatives as directed by Director
  • Work to promote personal development to assist region· Establish Memorandums of Understanding with partner organizations, clubs, schools, etc. to deliver rugby education curriculum and events

Finances

  • Prepare reports and expense claims within required time frames

PRE-REQUISITES

  • Accreditation in coaching (At least World Rugby Level 2)
  • USA Rugby Registered Coach/Administrator· Meet requirements to work with children and maintain any certifications as necessary
  • Current valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle
